The DAILY DIRT - The nitty and the gritty of outdoor news

Outdoor Retailer: The Sights

OR, so far, in pictures

The beautiful Salt Palace, home of Outdoor Retailer.

As Dennis Lewon said earlier, Outdoor Retailer isn't all about gear—It's just mostly all about gear.  Here's a brief gallery of images that put the spotlight on some of the more interesting, cool, or just plain weird things you typically see at OR.

Running out of space on those longer treks?  Deuter has the bag for you!

Climber Timmy O'Neill and his band abandon their regular repertoire for something a little different during the Teva Happy Hour.

Coleman insect repellent will now come in a larger bottle, equipped with arms and legs, so that you can just stand and spin while it sprays you. Then it rubs your shoulders.

Possibly the world's first human powered smoothie machine.  Who wants to open a franchise?

Members of the FiveTen Parkour Team play around outside in the sweltering heat. Why? Because they can. I would too.

Many vendors, including Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear, had tributes on display in memory of Jonny Copp, Micah Dash, and Wade Johnson.  In late May, these three climbers were lost in a avalanche in the Sichuan region of China, and will be sorely missed.

Speaking of great men of the mountains, here's the legend himself, Royal Robbins.

Wow. I must have missed the news that those guys passed away. Two years ago I attended a Mt. Hardwear event down in Escalante and Micah presented an AMAZING slide show about his travels. He was a funny funny dude....

I bet you guys are all there thinking "Damn, we could really use an editorial intern named Adrienne right about now." Next year.
