Come visit this Cherokee named place of fresh green.
Elevation: 4,784 feet
Summit:
It's a leisurely half-mile stroll up a paved trail to the interpretive museum that presides over this panorama of densely forested mountains. Inside, weird-looking wax figures narrate a verbal tour. Outside, you can see four states on a clear day. The Cherokee had a more fitting name for this un-bald mountain: Itse'yi, or place of fresh green.
