With a beam that focuses via a rotating mechanism on the housing, the Lenser SEO 5 opens up to a broad floodlight for tent pitching and focuses down to a penetrating spot beam to hunt for a bear-bag branch. “I liked using the spot beam on the lowest of two brightness settings for close, precision work like fixing a zipper or applying Moleskin,” says one tester. He also adds, “The quality of light is excellent: dark-spot-free and even.” There’s even a little hook on the strap for hanging the light in your tent. $57; 4 oz.; IPX4; 3 AAAs; 180 lumens; ledlenser.com
More Tester Feedback:
Bruce Kreutzer: I would recommend this light to a friend for its pivoting LED and focusing lens. I didn’t
however find the headstrap to be particularly comfortable.
Bridger Kroenke: When I used this light, I was very surprised. This light didn’t feel very sturdy when I started using it but it held up over the many nights. The spotlight mode is very powerful and it’s very easy to change to floodlight mode.
Ben Morrissey: The Leatherman SEO 5 is nice because of it's zoom lens to focus the beam. This feature is nice for spotting distant objects and for focusing light on small work, such as needing to check out a zipper to fix it. Other lights often don’t focus enough for such tiny work.
