The DAILY DIRT - The nitty and the gritty of outdoor news

Obama's Yellowstone Vacation Video

White House releases footage of the president's summer visit to Yellowstone. Guest starring: Ken Burns!

Last summer President Obama took the first family on a tour of Yellowstone National Park. Now the White House has released a video of the President's visit, complete with archival photos of a memorable visit he took with his mother, grandmother, and sister back in the 70s.

In the video, Obama and Ken Salazar wax philosophical about the importance of Yellowstone to the national psyche, with guest commentary from rangers and the-one-and-only Ken Burns, who cleans up in a suit and tie for his interview on the White House lawn. We also see archival footage of past presidential visits from the likes of both Roosevelts, Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and the follicularly gifted Chester A. Arthur, the first to visit the park in 1883.

Funniest moment: Obama admits to approaching a bison when he was young, which a ranger quickly chides him for. I'm willing to let it slide: It's a youthful mistake, for sure, but that's nothing compared to the shot of Warren G. Harding feeding black bears.
