Cook It
Getting packed for car camping just got a whole lot easier. Forget about the Smokey Joe, briquettes, and lighter fluid. Skip the griddle for your morning pancakes. And give that heavy old two-burner a rest. This ultraversatile, all-in-one propane stove can handle every task and recipe thanks to interchangeable cooking surfaces. (The grill comes standard; the stove grate costs an extra $20 and the griddle an extra $25.) "The clamshell lid makes it easy to pack and store," says one tester.

"And it let me capture heat so my burgers cooked evenly." The nonstick griddle banged out a huge stack of chocolate-chip pancakes in a few minutes. The one-burner stove is compact (about 16 x 15 x 7 inches), but the cooking surface was big enough to handle the grub for two families of four on a long weekend in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Tip: Don't be tempted to spend $10 more on the push-button ignition; it's unnecessary, and ours never worked. $70; 11 lbs. 4oz.; coleman.com.
