A 36-year-old man died Monday after being hit by a falling tree in Yellowstone National Park.
In a statement, the National Park Service said that the Taiwanese tourist was part of a group hiking the Fairy Falls Trail in the Old Faithful area. Visitors who witnessed the incident say the man was attempting to get a better view of Grand Prismatic Spring when he climbed up a tree-covered slope and was hit on the head by a dead lodgepole pine.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene after witnesses sought help and revival efforts failed. Rangers said that windy conditions likely contributed to the accident.
