Joby Ogwyn plans to do the very thing mountaineers fear most: fall off the summit of Mount Everest.
The daredevil announced Wednesday that he intends to leap from the world's highest peak wearing one of his custom-made wingsuits that will allow him to glide down the peak like a human flying squirrel. CNN reports that the jump, scheduled for the historically favorable weather window of mid-May, would be the first of its kind. Ogwyn, 39, is already quite familiar with Everest; he was just 24 years old when he ascended in 1999, the youngest person to do so at the time.
Ogwyn's wingsuit will be equipped with cameras to record the leap for TV audiences, a la Felix Baumgartner's heavily publicized stratosphere jump last year. Ogwyn told CNN that he is a little scared, but "not afraid to die." Check out the full report:
