Officials have spent CAD $19 million to restore damaged areas.
The Calgary Herald reports that the government has spent nearly CAD $19 million so far to repair washed-out trails and roads, including a section of the Trans-Canada Highway. However, fewer than half of the area’s 49 damaged bridges have been restored, and officials estimate that another CAD$6 million could be needed.
While hikers may find backcountry access limited in the early season, the park’s most popular campgrounds are expected to be open.
