See who won FREE GEAR and a SWEET TRIP!

To kick off the hiking season this past spring, we announced our Be a BACKPACKER Map Correspondent contest. The rules were simple. Map trails from May 1 to November 1; win gear. To top it off, the contributor with the most hikes in the tank by November 1 would win a closet-full of Editors' Choice gear and a weeklong trip to the Colorado Rocky Mountains with our map editors.

And map you did! Six months, 123 trails, and 33 pieces of gear later, the results are tallied. Readers from across the country submitted hikes in 15 states and received tents, boots, and packs in return.

Here are a few of our favorite trip reports:

· Utah: Cottonwood Wash Narrows (mapped by Charlie Hart)

· Idaho: Pyramid Lake and Ball Lakes (mapped by Travis Lesicka)

· North Carolina: Eno River-Cox Mountain Loop (mapped by John Thomas)

· Missouri: Rockywood Trail (mapped by Greg Porter)

· Texas: Elm Lake-40 Acre Lake Loop (mapped by Randy Noble)

· Washington: Gold Creek Trail (mapped by Nathan and Jeremy Barnes)

It was a heated battle, but in the end, Seattle-residents—and hiking duo—Nathan and Jeremy Barnes (shown below) took home the grand prize by mapping 46 trails throughout the Cascades. Congrats!
