Hike to see arty rock sculptures left by the last Ice Age into the Wisconsin rock.
Five-hundred-foot cliffs and 30 miles of interconnected trail make Devil's Lake one of the Badger State's best destinations for hiking and rock climbing. A loop of about 6 miles on the East Bluff Trail and Ice Age Loop takes in prominent landmarks like Elephant Rock and Elephant Cave, Devil's Doorway, and Balanced Rock, as well as quiet woods and fields. Start near the park headquarters off WI 123, 2 miles south of Baraboo.
drive time: Madison, 45 minutes
