Mesh-covered vents take these strong midcuts into the future of fastpacking shoes.
These futuristic midcuts feature an impressive innovation: Mesh-covered vents channel air into the shoe to cool the foot and dry the Gore-Tex XCR liner. Translation? "Remarkably cool in hot conditions," reports our Rocky Mountain editor. After treks and trail runs in southern Utah and Pennsylvania, testers concluded that the shock-absorbing heel and plastic-reinforced mesh uppers are super-stable for their weight class, while the waterproofing is adequate for light rain and shallow creek crossings. Bottom line: An excellent fastpacking shoe for mild conditions. Best for medium to wide feet. $130
