Kids know what scrambling means: Climb over everything in your path, and have a rollicking good time. For a mere hundred bucks, you can channel your nimble-footed inner child with these grippy, hikeable shoes. The soles have excellent traction, rigid support, and flattened lugs for edging. The forefoot is roomy enough for long approaches, yet to-the-toe lacing lets you cinch them down tight when the moves get sketchy. The midcut height and thick padding protect ankles in boulder fields, while a rubber toe cap helps friction and durability. They're just burly enough to accept strap-on crampons and just light enough to let you jog back to the trailhead before dark. Bets for medium to wide feet. $100
