Trail runners for hardcore mountain scrambling? No footwear faux pas here, says our tester after a trip to the Canadian Rockies. With sticky Frixion rubber soles and to-the-toes lacing, these nimble shoes gave him geckolike control on rock, and the perforated synthetic leather upper and mesh lining kept his feet cool, dry, and blister-free. Bummer: There's little lateral support. Best for medium-volume feet.
