As most everyone in North America knows: Baby, itís (freaking) cold outside. And besides transportation outages and epidemic levels of frostbite, that leads to all kinds of cold-weather hijinks ó thankfully captured in perpetuity for our amusement on social media. Our favorite comes from this enterprising Canuck in South Porcupine, Ontario, who fires snow out of his boiling-water-loaded water gun. Watch:
The boiling water trick has been around for a while now, but it never gets old. Case in point: Here's meteorologist Eric Holthaus of Viroqua, Wisc., tossing a pot of boiling water into the -21 degree air to make a mini-blizzard:
But before you imitate these guys on your day off today, beware: Copycats who fail to mimic Holthausís cautious technique are scalding themselves in droves, according to Slate. At least 40 people report burning themselves by tossing hot water into the wind, spilling on themselves, or attempting the trick in not-quite-cold-enough temps.
Our advice: Put down the pot of boiling water and GO INSIDE. Itís freezing, people!
