Keyhole Route, Longs Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park, COIn May 2006, BACKPACKER editors Jon Dorn and Kris Wagner made an early-season summit attempt on the highest peak (14,255 feet) in Rocky Mountain National Park. (Photos by Jonathan Dorn)For a full route description, interactive map, and GPS downloads for this route, click here. Also, check out video of the route.
Map editor Kris Wagner records a waypoint shortly after sunrise at the junction of the Chasm Lake Trail, which heads left. At this point, we'd been hiking for a bit less than two hours after a 3:30 a.m. start.

Great pictures of our wonderful USA.

I'm a Fort Collins resident and have been up Longs Peak a couple of times, but this is the first time I've heard the term "Sidewalk" to describe any part of the Keyhole Route. Typically the section you call the "Sidewalk" is referred to as the Narrows. Great hike though, no matter the names.
