Stow your trekking poles to get an advantage when bushwacking a trail.
When bushwhacking, collapse and stow your trekking poles. They tangle in branches, and you can use the brush itself for handholds. When sidehilling or on other mixed terrain, you may prefer to keep the poles handy by dangling them from wrist loops.
