Having spent many days in the vicinity of Idaho Fish and Game's Stonebraker Ranch (named after William Stonebraker)that was the start of this journey, I am totally baffled by the story. While that landing strip is the only one in the Frank Church that could cause any confusion, the author had to cross a MAJOR trail, or one of two sizeable streams (he forded one of those on the second day) on that first day, or else he would have ended up at the Chamberlain Basin airstrip, the largest backcountry strip in the state, and the location of the Chamberlain Ranger Station.
What was left out?

I do alot of solo hikes and this is always in the back of my mine. I ask myself do I have the skills to survive. This is such a great story. I know just how it feels when you get lost and then find the trail again. Unless you have been there, you never know. Thanks.

Our journal from hiking the Idaho Centennial Trail is at www.trailjournals.com/GottaWalkICT We had many of the same feelings about our hike thru the Frank Church and Selway/Bitterroot Wildernesses. Interesting, frustrating, and beautiful!

You should consider posting a second copy of each video with subtitles. Not only would you comply with the ADA but you would also help out those of us who do not have access to sound on certain machines (ex. lunch at work).

I liked the article in the mag. I have not been able to watch the vids yet however. I cannot wait to. I would love to do what you did so long as I was not alone. If I could take a buddy with me, I would JUMP at the chance to get lost. Thanks for doing a great job with this assignment.
