This baselayer has excellent wicking and quick-dry performance.

VERDICT
I wore this simple, 100-percent polyester shirt on an eight-day climbing trip in the Alps and was impressed with its wicking (even on a long, 70°F approach to Mont Blanc) and quick-dry performance. The large, mesh back panel offered excellent ventilation and kept my back comfortable under a heavy pack, and the UPF 50 fabric provided protection under the alpine sun. Seams are flat and unobtrusive, and fit is trim but not snug. The fabric’s embedded, odor-absorbing activated carbon and micro-minerals won’t wash out, and fended off funk for an impressive four strenuous days before the shirt started to smell ripe. $45; 5.8 oz. (L); m’s S-XXL; terramarsports.com

Best For: High-output, multiday trips
