Treking the Lost Coast April 15-19th. Absolutely love your idea and am giving it a try. I have been making home made breakfast burritos which stay frozen for a great first wake up treat. This will impress my friends for dinner one night i'm sure. Thanks for the post. ^^

If you have an extra pot, try a packet of gravy mix. It gives it that extra boost.

This is great stuff, just made it tonight. Definitely a meal that sticks to your ribs. I wonder if it might benefit from one of the instant gravy sauce packets?

I found the yukon gold at pretty much any large supermarket I went to. If you can't find them you can also order them here: http://www.idahoan.com/
while it's a little more hassle, I think it is worth it. Idahoans are the best instant tatters I've had!

I also add nuts. It is totally awesome and really fills you up.

to make it even better, add some instant Yukon GOld Mashed
potatoes and instant gravy mix - to keep the weight down
we used freeze dried chicken - stove top is the best in the
backcountry

I tried this recipe at home when I first read the article. It is super easy to make and I thought it was pretty dang tasty; I even took the leftovers to work the next day. I thought I had a pretty good lunch for myself until I offered a bite to a friend who ended up taking half of it because he like so much too.

Stove Top is the best. Natural foods stores sell overpriced cardboard.

Sounds good, except Stove Top stuffing is absolutely gross! I bet one could find something better at a natural foods store.
