The Backpacker Gear Hall Of Fame: Packs

A look back at the packs we've loved for years that's still at the top of its class.

Big Agnes Q-Core Insulated Sleeping Pad
JanSport Cienega
Female backpackers continue to rave about the Cienega. The fixed shoulder straps have an exaggerated S-curve so they contour backward at a sharp angle to minimize pressure on breasts. The sternum strap has 5 inches of vertical adjustment, a feature our full-figured testers appreciated. $125; 2 lbs.; 32 liters; jansport.com

BP seems to have missed the mark here, and forgot one pack in particular that is Awesome... The Ospery Aether. recently it seems that the buyers guide and gear guide have become nothing more that BP's way of advertising a product. usually I cant go wrong in using the gear they recommend, Aether is no exception, I have logged hundreds of miles and have had NO complaints NO failures, no worries.

Beware of the very narrow torso size of 15" - 16". I was really excited to order but it had to be returned because of this. Beautiful pack though if you're in this specific size range.
