"Crazy warm for the weight and the laughable liter-bottle packed size," concluded one tester who snoozed through several subfreezing nights in Colorado's Elk Range in this 850-plus-fill down bag. But there's more than premium feathers here. The Mirage's precision fit is roomy in the torso, but tapered in the legs for maximum comfort and thermal efficiency.

Intricate construction using individually sized and shaped baffles keeps weight and bulk down while maximizing loft. The hood wraps superbly, and a free-hanging draft yoke seals out the chill. Even the short 14-inch zipper is impeccably designed–placed halfway between side and top–so as not to impede entry and exit.
