We're not sure where designers hid the fun-house mirror, but this tent feels bigger inside than its dimensions suggest (87-by-60 inches, about average for a lightweight three-person shelter). The trick is in the hubbed pole structure, which has two cross pieces that bring the walls to near vertical, as well as the all-mesh canopy, which creates an airy, open feeling–and eliminates condensation.

The double-wall, freestanding Ajanta sets up fast, and the tight pitch proved unflappable during gusty afternoon thunderstorms in Colorado National Monument. Two vestibules shelter packs without blocking the doors. $300; 5 lbs. 13 oz. Groundwear.com
