yes, i think so. without wanting to make advertisement here, look for "fliegfix" poles(a company from austria). they add scandium to their alloy poles which makes them more resistant and lighter, so itīs possible to either take the same diameter and save weight, or take a bit thicker pole(half a millimeter or so)for even more stability and no increase in weight. maybe you have to translate the site with google or so. cya :)

Camping in the Fla Keys (for about a month), the ends of my tent poles (ends which are on the ground) become seriously weathered. Is it possible to find ends more resistant to the weathering? Do the poles of some tents provide more resistance than others?
