How To Waterproof Your Boots

Waterproof boots can make the difference between a sick hike and a miserable slog.

Remove caked dirt and dried sweat by wiping boots with clean, warm water and drying them thoroughly prior to rubbing in a light layer of the leather conditioner recommended by their maker.

Avoid heat when treating or drying your boots. Excess heat will dry and shrink them plus degrade the glue that bonds the soles.
