Gear Review: Sierra Designs Hurricane Accelerator Shell

A hooded, seam-taped, DWR-treated rain jacket for kids.

Shell

The Sierra Designs Hurricane Accelerator is ideal for kids who aren’t afraid of a little rain—or a lot (the Hurricane handles all-day downpours as ably as top adult versions). The hooded, seam-taped, DWR-treated ripstop nylon kept our little testers dry through drenching storms, and a fuzzy polyester lining took the chill off when they wore the jacket as a windbreaker on gusty summits. “It’s cozy,” sums up one 11-year-old. $69; 13 oz.; sierradesigns.com
