Gear Review: Outdoor Research Backstop Gloves

Gore Windstopper covers the back of the hand from cuff to fingertips.

Lightweight

Warm, protective, but never clammy, the Outdoor Research Backstop Gloves feature a Gore Windstopper lining on the back of the hand from cuff to fingertips. But the palm is unlined for max breathability. Consequently, these stretchy fleece gloves felt just right in a wide range of conditions, from summer in the Colorado Rockies (where our tester wore them to protect her hands from icy tent poles) to sunny winter ski-tours. Sticky silicone strips on the fingers and palm make for excellent dexterity, though the thin coating over the silicone tended to flake off. $35; 2.4 oz. (m’s L); outdoorresearch.com
