Tendon-friendly Boots?

I tore tendons in my left ankle when I was younger, and as a result, don't have the most stable of ankles while hiking. Braces tend to be too hot and irritating inside a boot - is there any specialty boot or aftermarket product to help?

Answer:

I too have a bad ankle. I use a custom-made orthotic, a footbed that helps quite a bit. I sometimes use a custom-made ankle brace instead of the footbed. It sort of depends on how my ankle is feeling and how rough I think the terrain will be. Either way, I strongly recommend a visit to a pro who knows feet and ankles, someone who can provide specific advice based on his or her examination of you. That’s what I did.
