Q.}
Do I have to get my girlfriend a women's-specific backpack if her torso size fits a men's one? Do the shoulder strap position and waist belt flare really matter and do you wear a women’s-specific backpack?

A.}
No, Miguel, you don’t necessarily have to get your girlfriend a women’s specific pack. I often wear men’s or unisex packs with great success. And I know small men who have had luck with women’s packs. Forget about the gender labels and look at the pack itself, and the way it works with your girlfriend’s body shape.

Comfortable
Spacious

This pack is great for longer treks, because it has a lower compartment that makes it easy to access items deep within the pack. There is also an extensive clip system that allows you to strap nearly anything onto the pack. I even rigged a pair of skis onto it once! There is plenty of room in the pack, and the outer pouches are good for things that you need to access quickly. Also, the top pouch detaches to form a small day pack. The built in rain cover is also a large plus.
Only one Con that I can think of: This pack does not do well when it's understuffed. The pack is meant to be full, and since it's a large pack, this may prove to be an issue on short or minimalist treks. When it's not full, things just don't really fit properly. It's still very usable, just somewhat annoying.
All in all, I definitely recommend this pack for extended treks.
