Crag a little or crag a lot, this mid-sized top-loading pack is for you. Along with an ample main pocket, the bag features an extendable / removable top lid and easy-access side zippers that let you find gear that’s buried at the bottom. The thermo-moulded pack straps and backpad are covered with stretch-woven nylon for maximum comfort on the approach. The pack’s load is supported by dual aluminum stays and an internal frame sheet. The occipital cavity allows you to gape up at your objective without hitting your head on the pack. Finally, the top compression strap (aka rope-holder) keeps your rope in tow and the waistband ice axe loop / gear loops ensure a few pieces are close at hand should the approach or descent get a tad sketchy.

Q.} Do I have to get my girlfriend a women's-specific backpack if her torso size fits a men's one? Do the shoulder strap position and waist belt flare really matter and do you wear a women’s-specific backpack?
Submitted by: Miguel - Detroit, MI
A.} No, Miguel, you don’t necessarily have to get your girlfriend a women’s specific pack. I often wear men’s or unisex packs with great success. And I know small men who have had luck with women’s packs. Forget about the gender labels and look at the pack itself, and the way it works with your girlfriend’s body shape.
