For the serious electronics user, this ruggedized, water-resistant charger is a good choice for backcountry use. It does nothing but charge USB-and micro USB-compatible devices, so the weight is all about the power inside—and you’re not dependent on sunny skies, as with solar panels. Our tester boosted his iPhone 3S from the mid-20-percent mark to 100 percent four times on one trip; on another, he almost got a full iPad charge. It’s also a great gift for dads who travel a lot—no need to search airports for free plugs. Two minuses: The Pro doesn’t come with a wall adapter; you have to charge it via computer.
