The synthetic-fill Marmot Eigerwand Jacket won’t wilt in a little rain. Our tester was boggled by how warm this streamlined jacket kept him in wind, snow, and temps down to 10°F, thanks to the DWR-treated shell fabric and quick-drying, warm-when-wet Spirafil insulation.
It’s close-fitting, not confining; another tester wore it downhill skiing and enjoyed unfettered movement and sealed-in warmth thanks to the high, fleece-lined collar. Two hand pockets are placed high enough to clear a pack’s hipbelt, and the polyester shell fabric is 100-percent recycled. $149; 1 lb. 1 oz. (m’s M); marmot.com
I was so excited when I read about this jacket in your latest Gear Guide, only to discover, like so many things, that there is no version for women. It's a mens-only jacket. In such cases, it would be especially helpful if this was mentioned in the Gear Guide, or, even better, a women's "best" was cited as well.
