Gear Review: Grand Trunk Nano-7 Hammock

A super-comfy hang-able camp "chair"

Pack the Grand Trunk Nano-7 Hammock on your next overnighter, and you’ll swear seven ounces never provided so much comfort. It’s about 50 percent lighter than most camp loungers, and way better for napping than a chair (though it’s not a sleep shelter). The Nano-7 includes a ripstop nylon sling and lightweight carabiners (hanging cord is BYO). After kicking back in breezy bliss, our tester confessed, “It’s a total luxury item. But it’s so light, I can’t resist!” $77; 6.7 oz.; grandtrunkgoods.com

If you're making a list of 'essentials' I don't see the point in including a hammock that isn't ideal as a shelter. I use a hammock, bug net, rain fly combo from Trek Light Gear and I would call it an essential - my tent stays at home.
