Gear Review: Tifosi Duro with Blue Clarion Mirror Lens Sunglasses

Versatile Bargain
A high-performance, interchangeable frame paired with a crystalline, smudge-resistant lens (with two more lens pairs included) for under $75? Sold. Testers loved this setup for its lightweight durability, stay-put features, and a lens that performed way above its price point. Tifosi’s new blue hydrophobic Clarion mirror lens “repelled sweat and smudging better than most of the other athletic pairs I’ve worn,” says one editor. Testers also gushed over the crisp, slightly rose-tinted lens—with just the right tint to make colors pop but not distort them.

And, with 14.7 percent VLT*, the Clarion Blue lens blocked rays of almost all intensities, which made Colorado rock formations look sharp while providing solid contrast on snow. Rubber ear padding and a flexible rubber nosepiece makes the fit adjustable and kept the durable Grilamid TR-90 frame in place on high-output runs and hikes. Dings: Lenses are not scratch-proof and swapping them takes finesse. $75; 1.2 oz.; tifosioptics.com

*VLT Visible Light Transmission, or how much light passes through a lens. The lower the number, the better the lens for bright conditions.
