Gear Review: REI ecoSensitive Revelcloud Jacket

PrimaLoft, DWR-treated Pertex Quantum, and recycled polyester make this a warm and eco-friendly puffy jacket.

Need a little less warmth than the MontBell (above)? Get this low-impact, lightweight puffy. The REI ecoSensitive Revelcloud stuffs 60 grams of PrimaLoft into a DWR-treated Pertex Quantum shell that’s made with recycled polyester. It’s warmer and more wind resistant than comparable fleece jackets. More compressible, too: “It packs down smaller than a Fosters can,” reports one tester. On 20°F November nights in Utah’s Capitol Reef National Park, it delivered just-right insulation, and it only requires a shell overlayer in rain and the wettest snow. Some testers wished for a hood. $139; 12.5 oz. (m’s L); rei.com
