Goal Zero’s Nomad 7M uses seven-watt monocrystalline solar cells (a more efficient solar panel technology made from single silicon crystals) that double the efficiency of similar models. We tested a bevy of chargers side by side in the Sierra, Rockies, and New Zealand and saw significantly faster charging times with this one in both full and partial sun. Cord loops let you drape it across your tent or pack while hiking. $100; 13 oz.; goal0.com
The Goal0 Guide 10 provides 7 Watts of charging power with this solar panel and will charge the battery pack in about 3-4 hours. The mono-crystalline solar panel is the most efficient solar panel on the market. Has a USB input so you can also use just the solar panel to plug your device directly in to recharge.
Got the Goal 7 at Costco. The person on site from Goal Zero said it would charge my iPhone. Well, it does not. It is junk. Called the company and they said it will not charge anything after an iPhone 3 but that I could spend an extra $99 on a add on pack so that it will charge an iPhone 4. Gee, thanks. Did not find the customer support so good and the product is junk for my needs. Good thing I tested it before I hit the road with it.

Extremely impressed with the company. I purchased the Goal Zero Guide 10 Adventure Kit a couple months ago and just got it out to use it and I couldn't find the cord to it. I contacted the company through their "contact us" link and heard back from them the same day. The asked me for the serial number and my address so they could send me a new one. I emailed them with the information the next day and I received an email back from them the same day saying they were shipping it out and I should have it within the next week. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! If the product ends up being even half as good as their customer service then I'll be a lifetime customer!!

I have been testing every ultra-portable solar system on the market that I could get for the past several years. The Goal 0 is by far the best. One of the major reasons is what you have stated above about its charge speed. That translates into the extra capacity you need on dyas that are not perfect and 100% sunny. Every other system on the market falls short of backcountry usability because of this. The Nomad 7 and Guide 10 are a very well thought out package that have me off the grid when backpacking with power to spare.
