“I keep grabbing this shell for climbing, slack lining, and BASE jumping around Yosemite and Squamish,” says a tester. “The Pertex Shield fabric is super-durable and doesn’t abrade against the coarsest granite.” He also liked its minimal zips and pockets, which keep the exterior clean of snag-able stuff.
Another tester echoed the praise after skiing Oregon’s deadfall-ridden Ochoco Mountains. Huge, mesh pockets double as vents, and the long cuffs are easy to manipulate with gloves, but the fabric is a bit stiff and noisy.
