“I’ve never been so excited to put socks on,” raved one high-mileage tester of these plush 18.5-micron merino midweights. A fully cushioned and unusually deep heel pocket creates a “snug, ergonomic pouch that keeps the socks from stretching, sagging, or bunching under the arch.”

This signature feature, says FITS, comes from a heel seam that’s fashioned as an uppercase Y, then filled in with densely packed threads in a patent-pending process. The toebox, reinforced by a triple-stitched seam, is as amply cushioned as the heel. Fit is further dialed by pinching the fabric near the ankle and widening it near the calf.

Nitpick: The thick, 70/30 merino/synthetic blend is slower to dry than 100-percent merino.
