Gear Review: Point 6 Active Medium Cushion Crew Socks

This midweight crew sock by Point 6 was a tester favorite.

All-Purpose Midweights
"Over the course of several months," says one tester, "I found myself reaching for these socks more than any other pair in my overstuffed testing drawer. The cushion is just right for all-season hiking, yet the fit is snug and trim, so they work equally well under ski boots, when a thinner sock is usually required."

The supersoft, terry-looped merino is itchless, and the low-profile toe seams are among the smoothest we've ever felt–you won't notice them. Same goes for the heel pockets, which wrap precisely around foot contours. And they'll last: The heel and toe areas have nylon woven in for added durability; our samples have yet to show any signs of pilling. $18; point6.com

You can feel good about these socks too, made in USA.

Socks by Point 6 are excellent. I am a year into my first six pair (wear for work) and they are not showing any wear. I have recently purchased the shorter height cycling socks, my wife and I have virtually eliminated cotton socks for day hikes, jogging, etc. We both hiked many miles in several days of hiking on jungle trails in Huatulco, MX and appreciated how cool and comfortable our feet were at the end of each day in the tropical heat and humidity.

Our teenage boy is also now wearing Point 6 socks in his school and gym shoes, our noses appreciate that the merino wool all but eliminates foot odor.

Sierra Trading posts often has Point 6 socks at a deep discount.
