Backpacker Magazine – Fall Gear Guide 2009
This sunscreen goes on clear and blocks sun and wind. Bonus, it also moisturizes.
Cold, dry mountain air will damage skin faster than you can say windburn. This lube moisturizes, protects against wind and sun (30 SPF), and it won't freeze solid. It also stays on longer than other sunscreens we've tried, so fewer applications are needed–a key to effective protection when you're out all day.
This formula has transparent, UV-blocking zinc oxide, which goes on clear so you don't look like a lifeguard. Bonus: The .5-ounce tin slips into a pants pocket. $5; dermatone.com

I take Doxycycline for Lyme Disease and that has increased my skin sensitivity to sun. Mostly the sun affects my nose and lips, so this product looks helpful and easy to carry.
