We did this hike (up and down the gorge brook trail) in late fall, when there was a good 8" of snow on the trail and 2' on the top. The views from the trail are simply breathtaking, and the summit is delightfully wide open, offering quite the panorama! Took us 7 hours round trip to complete, stopping very often to enjoy the views. To this day, gorge brook trail remains one of the most amazing hikes I've done. Just a warning: the road to the Moosilauke ravine lodge is NOT plowed in the winter, and consequently we had some minor difficulty with the car.
