| NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS |
It was very interesting five day trip with the boys. We started out at entry point 34 on the Island River and paddled down the Island River to Bald Eagle Lake were we set up camp the first day. Then we portaged 186 rods to Turtle Lake were we spent the day, were we got skunked fishing and rained on while fishing out in the middle of the lake and then returned to camp and spent most of the day in the tent playin cards but the evening was amazing, with a beautiful sunset. The next day we paddled accross Gabbro Lake and had an awesome campsite on the top of this cliff with a great view of the lake and were treated to another gorgeous sunset. The boys were getting a little tried of paddling and decided to take the 286 rod portage short cut. Unfortunately the man with the map sent us down the wrong 200 rod portage, so we intern got to experience 686 rods of portaging that day. Over all the trip was awesome and a great experience. I rated the trip a 3 and it truly is if you have any experience and are in desent shape, but if you lack experience and are slightly out of shape like my buddies it was more like a 5 but still do able.
