We started from the Undermountain Trail in Salisbury CT which leads to Lion's Head (great views from there). From Lion's Head you descend a little bit before the ascension to Bear Mountain. Once at the top of Bear Mountain you'll find a large stone-built structure and another great view of the landscape. The descent from bear Mountain is tricky as it is very steep and rocky. The trail leads you to Sages Ravine where we set up camp for the night. The following morning you simply trek back the way you came in. Ascending Bear Mountain from this side is much more difficult than the previous day, but is rewarding once you reach the top.
The distance traveled was great as it allows for enough breaks.
