| NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS |
A roughly 12 mile pack into the Superstition Wilderness. It begins with sweeping views of Four Peaks and Lake Roosevelt. The mostly uphill hike in took about 5 hours this time. The entire trail was very dry. This should not have been a surprise, as we have not seen measurable rain in months. Luckily we found water at the campsite, especially since we only packed about 2 liters each. The back 6 of the trail are basically loose rock and hardscrabble. Mid 60s during the day, but below freezing at night, the weather was most cooperative. The hike out, mostly downhill, went quick. The last mile is real killer, not difficult, but long.
