Launching point to begin the trip to the summit
The mountain is challenging and would make a great day hike to White Rocks. Lots of history here, it is located in Powell Valley where Daniel Boone travelled and lead settlers through the "Gap" in Middlesboro, Kentucky. According to park officials, reseachers from University of Kentucky tagged 15 bears in August of 2007. We didn't happen upon any but it was a terrific hike. Anyone who would like the history as well as a challenge needs to hike back into this wilderness. From the top of white rocks, two states can be seen from the views!
