Start at Horseshoe meadows and hike to Chicken Spring lake camp. Then head down the trail to Big Whitney Meadow stop and water up at the creek before heading on. Follow the trail and at the split take the right trail up over the ridge about 3 miles the trail gets harder to see as you get closer to the lakes. Camp at Rocky basin lakes. Go around the first large lake to the west side and camp in the sandy area between the 2 lower lakes. Spend a layover day here to do some hiking and swimming. No fishing in these lakes as they have removed all the fish. The next day head out over the saddle that you can see to the north this will take you to Siberian Outpost cross country to meet up with the New Army Pass trail about 3 miles. Take the trail to the fork head left to go to Soldier lakes or you can head out over the pass. Good fishing at Soldier Lakes. After camping at Soldier lakes head out over New Army Pass to Cottonwood lakes good camps at the west end of Long lake about 4 miles from Soldier Lakes. Then head down the trail to the Trail head parking. This is a great 3 or 4 day trip with lots of variety in the terrain and scenery
