Perfect second day camp next to Rock Creek. Watch for the horses and pack animals on the trail. Get a good rest for the climb out of the basin over Guyot Pass for the second or third day hike. Only 8 miles to go to Guitar Lake at the foot of the west side of Mt. Whitney.
