Altamaha River Trail, Baxley, GA

Star Star Star Star Star

Distance: 1.0 miles

Nature Trail has 20 points of interest.  A guide can be found at the trailhead.  It appears that the trail has been moved a few times.  Could be due to rotation to prevent wear, or perhaps trail in planning phases.  Found every spider web there was with my face--bring a hiking stick.  Great natural area.  Wildlife abound, as they probably do not see many visitors.  Great for birding and turtle watching.  Appling landing beach nearby when you are done with the hike.  Great spot at marker 15 (Alligator Lake) which is an old river bank before erosion shifted the river flow.  Area could be difficult after rainfall.
