Taughannock Lake State Park has a wealth of recreational activities. The shoreline of Cayuga Lake includes a large lawn and areas for fishing and swimming. There are concerts in the summer in conjunction with the nearby Cayuga Wine Trail. A campground is located near the trailhead of three trails: The Gorge Trail, The South Rim Trail, and The North Rim Trail. The Gorge Trail is about 3/4 of a mile and follows the Taughannock Creek. It is an easy walk that remains fairly flat allowing for wonderful views of the falls. The South Rim Trail, just over one mile long, is located at a much higher elevation that is reached by stairs. The trail travels west along the gorge, providing excellent views of the smaller falls and the gorge itself. At the end of the trail The North Rim trail, about a mile and a half long, is met allowing for a loop. The trail travels east for a spectaculer view of the higher falls at The Falls Overlook. At the overlook, another loop trail allows for multi-use activity and is about two miles long. Overall, the views are excellent and the geography stunning.
