For this trip, Veer left on the “road” instead of right on the trail.

That's my hunting partner cooling off in the creek.
The on-trail portion of this trip was wonderful. Many different terrains were crossed and the trail was fantastic. This trip failed because of the off-trail portion around Rhodes Bay. One single ridge could be found that would lead to the target campsite. As a result, the way in was and an up-down-up-down trek across ridges and “hollers” even I did a little better on the way out. (The best track is the one uploaded here.) Location of my camp was also disappointing because lake access was very difficult, and the view just wasn’t that great. The original plan was to take two slow, fun days to hike out, but it poured rain literally as soon as I picked up my pack. Several miles later I decided to head home which turned out to be the correct decision: the rain never let up.
I would highly recommend this trail and this trip except I would suggest a better place to camp.
