Take the trail to the right into the forest, marked by a little flagging tape and an old post. This is the original trailhead before the landslide. An old wilderness entry board is just inside the forest.

This 7.5 mile out-and-back follows the old gravel road for about the first mile and a half before heading into the forest and begining the spiral climb to the summit. The trail gains 1400 ft at a fairly steady pace.
